I got a Groupon for two oil changes and an inspections, no issues with oil change. Upon receipt of inspection I was notified that I would need rear break pads and rotors and my rear calipers needed to be replaced. I was given a pretty hefty quote and advised not to drive my vehicle until it was fixed. I decided to get a second opinion since my breaks were replaced not too long ago, I went to a different mechanic who advised me that I have 60% left on my breaks and no issues with the calipers. I even took it to a Mazda dealership to make sure and they gave me the same information - 60% left. Pretty bad feeling being told I needed to spend $1,100 on parts alone when there was literally nothing wrong with my vehicle. Watch out for this place.
Hi Caitlin, First, let me apologize for your negative experience with us, we take great pride in our business and our staff and we do whatever we can to make our customers happy. Regarding your brakes here is what happened. Your vehicle came in and we noticed that the emergency brake lever on your caliper was stuck. We managed to get it loose and it is now working - that said, for fear of it sticking again and ruining another set of brake pads, we recommended new calipers. A second opinion would not see this as we have already temporarily solved that problem. Because your emergency brake lever was stuck on, it wore down ONE of your brake pads to 8%. Yes 3 of them have 60% left and are fine and it does look like your brakes were done not that long ago, but break pads need to be changed all at the same time, which is why we recommended new brake pads. Although you went to another shop for a second opinion, I am guessing they did a quick visual inspection - and the one worn pad would not been seen from that. I would like to invite you back here, and we will take off the wheel and show you exactly what we are talking about. If not, we would strongly recommend you share this information and the photos we provided to you with another shop to get an accurate picture of your vehicle's current state. Again, I can not stress enough how proud we are of our business and the service we provide. We have been in business for 35 years and have built a reputation we are proud of and we would not tarnish it with needless repairs. We are always only looking out for our customers' safety and service experience and we would love the chance to go through this with you in more detail.
