An engine rebuilder who can't get the parts I need to rebuild, all because I wasn't paying them an ebsorbanant amount of money to do it instead of doing it myself

Terrible Service! I never write reviews but I've had 2 horrible experiences, first one, I go for a regular oil change, onIy to go home and find out car is leaking oil, had to take it back 2 times before is fixed, no apologies or discount just it is what it is, 2nd one I go and request a part to be replaced, they replaced the wrong part and called me after to tell me I'm on the hook for over $500, the not needed part plus the one I really needed changed, again no acknowledgement of mistakes just pay your bill and go away, I rather pay a little more somewhere else and get things done right the first time!

Hi Luis: For the oil change issue there was a technical service bulletin -once we replaced the drain plug gasket , this issue was resolved and both times we did look after you at no expense. For the Nissan X-trail-you had brought in the vehicle and asked us to do a cam sensor in it-we asked you if you wanted us to diagnose the problem. You refused and said that you know what the problem is and signed the work-order stating that you wanted the cam sensor replaced. Once we did that and cleared the codes the engine light came back on immediately. At this point we called you and said that replacing the cam sensor had not repaired the problem and did you want us to diagnose the problem at this point. You gave us the approval to diagnose it. Once we had diagnosed the problem then we called you again to tell you that it was the crankshaft sensor that was malfunctioning, and we gave you an estimate for replacing it. At this point you gave us a go-ahead to do the repairs. It would have been better If we had diagnosed the problem in the first place. We stand behind our warranty which is one year or 20,000 km-we have been in business for 32 years and we pride ourselves on our warranty and customer service. We appreciate your feedback.

Fair pricing, Solid, Knowledgeable service on stuff you have to get done at a professional shop. Friendly, Intelligent staff make it worthwhile to do that stuff that could be done down at mr. backyard mech. without all the backyard b.s. and runaround. Great job! Happy Customer😊

11 years ago Cetus rebuilt my engine for a 1961 MGA and it was a disaster. At the time i was basically told that there was nothing they could do - tough luck . I was recently contacted by Steve at Cetus with real concern over my recent poor review. ( there was no recourse 11 years ago ). After a brief discussion, he suggested that I bring it in so they could hopefully determine the problem ( it had been blowing oil ). After a quick look they saw that the valve seals were not sealing properly. The pistons looked ok. Steve proposed that they would install new seals ( which I had ) at NO CHARGE to me . A very satisfactory outcome after all of these years ! Both Steve and Graham were very cooperative and pleasant to deal with. End result - a satisfied customer who would recommend Cetus anytime. Thanks Steve .

Went there after seeing so many good reviews. For little things, they are pretty good, but when it comes to big work (I got an engine rebuild on one car, and an intake manifold replacement on another) they end up charging thousands higher than quoted. Sure they informed me of the extra charges... but only after they already have the engine apart and I really had no choice. The techs seem to know their stuff, just the business practice is not the best. Also a couple times they were hesitant to take responsibility for issues that cropped up immediately after their repair. Had to fight with them both times, and in the end they admitted it was something they did. Good job on admitting it, but really I shouldnt have had to fight and argue that much. Even though the vehicles were okay in the end, I wont be going back here for any more work.

We are really sorry you had a negative experience with us. But it is sometimes difficult to accurately estimate the job to do and the costs before opening the engine. But we always inform our clients before performing any unforeseen work. Nevertheless, we are happy to know that you are still satisfied with the work done on the car. Work is always done well and in a timely manner. Prices are great. I highly recommend to everyone I know for their automotive repairs and service.

The Customer Service was great and Cetus was able to get me in right away to complete an Out of Province inspection. After finding that my truck wouldn't pass inspection and needed some repairs, the team was able to complete all of the required work the same day! It was really convenient because I was in a time crunch and need to get my truck insured in Alberta that day.
